Benlin Building: Mississippi Street 1940s

The Benlin Distribution Services Complex, Mississippi (between Perry Street and South Park Avenue), in the 1940's. It functioned for decades as a warehouse/distribution center for several businesses. The architecture is vernacular concrete and steel.

The same view in 2005. This entire side of Mississippi (from Perry to South Park) has been purchased for redevelopment as a mix of apartments, condominium, retail, restaurants, and office space. Savarino Construction and Avalon Development are planning to
begin renovation on the first phase of the project in summer 2005.
