At left is the cast-iron facade of the German-American Insurance building, torn down in the 1950's. The marquee of the Lafayette Theater is visible at top left, while the front tower of the main library anchors the opposite corner. White building under construction left top is the Rand Building. Note the traffic circle plan of the square in 1929.
